How insurance billing works

For clients using insurance, we submit claims to your insurance company as a courtesy. Please note: it remains your responsibility to understand your benefits, deductible or copay, and any requirements before your first appointment.

A note on diagnosis

In order to bill your insurance, you will receive a mental health diagnosis. Your therapist will discuss this with you at your first session. If you are not comfortable with this diagnosis shared with your insurance company, you may choose to pay out of pocket instead.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY

Questions to ask your insurance company

Before booking, it helps to call your insurance member services number on your insurance card and ask:

Do I have mental health insurance as a medical?

Confirm that your plan has both a separate mental health coverage under your coverage policy.

What is my deductible and has it been met?

Many plans require you to meet a deductible before coverage kicks in. Knowing your remaining balance helps you plan costs.

How many sessions per year does my plan cover?

Some plans cap the number of covered therapy sessions, so it’s helpful to ask.

What is my copay or coinsurance per session?

Ask for your therapy or mental health visit cost after copay, deductible, or coinsurance is applied.

Do I have out-of-network benefits?

If GWC is not in-network under your plan, ask whether reimbursement is possible for out-of-network providers.

OUT OF NETWORK & SELF PAY

Paying out of pocket or using out-of-network benefits

GWC does not bill out-of-network insurance directly, but we can provide a monthly invoice (superbill) that you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Out-of-network sessions must be paid in full at the time of service.

We accept self-pay clients and payment forms of payment. Contact us for current session rates.

Cash / Credit / HSA Ecclesiastical reimbursement
Service Cost at time of service
Late cancellation / no-show fee $90
Please contact our office for current self pay rates.

“No-show rate applies to missed/late-canceled insurance or self-pay sessions, which might not be covered by insurance.”
