Meet Stasia Nyx, CSW
We’re excited to welcome Stasia Nyx, CSW, to the Green Willow Counseling team. Stasia provides warm, collaborative, trauma-informed therapy for teens and adults at our Cottonwood Heights, Utah office, with telehealth appointments also available throughout Utah.
Stasia works with clients navigating religious and faith transitions, identity exploration, anxiety, relationships, sexuality, life transitions, and questions of belonging. She brings a curious, nonjudgmental approach to therapy and believes that each person enters the therapy room with their own story, experiences, and strengths.
“I help individuals discover the strength within their stories.”
Therapy for Faith and Religious Transitions
Changes in faith can affect far more than what someone believes.
A religious transition may bring questions about identity, family relationships, community, values, sexuality, parenting, or where you belong. For some people, leaving or changing a faith tradition brings relief and possibility. For others, it can also involve grief, uncertainty, conflict, or the loss of relationships and community. Often, it’s a mixture of many of these experiences.
Stasia is particularly passionate about supporting teens and adults navigating faith and religious transitions.
Her goal isn’t to tell clients what they should believe or what their life should look like. Instead, she provides a space to explore questions openly, understand what matters to you, and discover what feels authentic and meaningful moving forward.
For people experiencing a faith transition in Utah, having a therapist who understands how deeply religion can intersect with family, culture, relationships, and identity can be especially important.
Identity, Sexuality & Finding Where You Belong
Stasia also enjoys working with clients exploring identity, sexuality, relationships, and belonging.
Identity exploration doesn’t always come with a clear destination. You may be reconsidering beliefs you grew up with, understanding your sexuality differently, figuring out what you want from relationships, or simply realizing that an old version of yourself no longer quite fits.
Therapy can provide room to be curious about those questions without needing to have the answers first.
As Stasia puts it, you don’t need to have anything figured out before coming to therapy. We can start exactly where you are.
Stasia’s Approach to Therapy
Stasia describes her approach as warm, collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. Rather than assuming there is one correct way to heal or grow, she works alongside clients to discover approaches that make sense for them.
Her work draws from several evidence-based approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build skills around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and relationships
Behavioral Activation to help clients reconnect with meaningful activities, routines, and engagement
Mindfulness and body-centered practices to notice tension, process emotions, and help calm the nervous system
When it fits the client, Stasia also enjoys incorporating nature and body-centered practices into therapy.
A central part of her work is helping people develop a different relationship with difficult emotions. Instead of putting all of our energy into avoiding anxiety, sadness, uncertainty, or discomfort, therapy can help us develop the awareness and skills to move through those experiences with greater confidence.
Stasia describes it as learning to ride the inevitable waves of life rather than waiting for the ocean to become perfectly calm.
